As someone who may have suggested, in some part, the move towards the teal side of the spectrum, I must sheepishly admit that I can't decide between these two--both fabulous choices. And, I might add, a cut above the black/red combo. How OCD are you about cleaning your bikes, Gunnar?
Part of the problem with "teal" is the bogus name, which has nothing to do with the teal duck as I know it. It would be a better color if it was called "kinda a greenish blue", which it was until about 20 years ago.
I haven't checked in lately but just saw that someone actually brought up burying Chris' magnificent shorelines under lug lining. Don't tell Chris, he might have a stroke.
Lug lining was invented to hide sloppy brazing. Some Paramounts had lining on the tubes, following the Nervex Pro lug edges. But a few mm out so as not to obscure the workmanship. Classy!
This discussion of colors reminds me of a pair of frames Terry Osell built for a couple. They wanted their bikes to look like a matched set. Trouble was he wanted them to be silver and she wanted burgundy. Terry's solution was perfect. The husband got a burgundy head tube and she got a silver one.
Each looked fine by itself, but together they looked fabulous.
You may have mentioned this earlier but, will you be having Chris build up the bike? I'd love to see it.
Yeah, Chris. Maybe a month or so after his surgery. I'll let you know. Barron wants to see it too. Maybe I'll grab Dex and we can get together when he's finishing up before paint. My turn to buy.
Gunnar, The reason I asked if Chris was building up the bike, instead of just the frame, is that I wanted to know if you will be picking up a ready to ride bike.
It would be nice to show you some of the great riding we have here in the cities.

Too late. I already stole it the day you posted the scans and had it on the right side of MY blog for a couple of days. Who would have thought there would that many variations of Bartali blades?

ReplyDeleteDon't really like teal. A friend has a teal colored Coconino. Sweet bike, but the color is not my favorite.
