Paul Brakes?

Anyone out there have any opinions on using a Paul Racer rear brake and Paul Neo-Retros in front? The goal being stopping the bike, having maximum tire clearance, and rear clearance for panniers or pannier style Amish baskets.  ???

  1. Opinions? Heck yes, I got lots!

I'd go for it. The finish is equally nice (to my eye) and they work well and reliably. The feel to hand should be pretty balanced.

I assume you are factoring heel clearance in there and that's why racer's in the the rear.

    I'm liking your direction here.

  2. I think Paul makes classy stuff. They'll look nice on that bike.

  3. And I thought the Amish were neo-retro!
Clearly I have much to learn.

  4. I have that exact brake setup on my crap bike, (Surly Crosscheck) and it works great. Heel clearance, stopping power...all the reasons you're probably considering that setup...they are all valid.

  5. Surly Crosscheck - a "crap bike"? I think not. It seems to me to be a well designed bike that does exactly what it was intended to do.

Thanks for your input on the brakes.
