Paris Roubaix

Journeyman rider Johan Van Summeren won and proposed marriage immediately upon dismounting from his bicycle. “She agreed!” he told the press. “It was a special way to make this request. Some people offer a ring, me it’s a stone! Another stone may come soon.”  Thor Hushovd was so worried about his clever tactics, refusing to take his turn pulling with Fabian Cancellara that he managed to take both of them out of contention. One time Thor, God of Thunder - now Thor, God of Slackers.     Team Tactics.

  2. It should be noted that Thor's teammate won...isn't that the point?

  3. It sucked for an observer. Team tactics. The reason I like the Classics is that is more individual effort. At the end of his career ask Thor how he feels about it. Hell, ask him this morning.

  4. Tho's a pro and he raced like one. Had he worked with Cancellara, I'm sure that Fabian would have dropped both Thor and Summeren for a repeat victory. I don't think he has any regrets! -Tony

  5. If they were close at the end, Thor would bury Cancellara. But you are right. He is a pro. He does what he's paid to do, not what he wants to do. But God it sucked.

  6. There is no team in Roubaix. It is every man for himself and whole bunch of "Fiiinng" Luck. THAT is what makes this the finest race of all.

Truly one of the best PR's I have ever seen.

  9. The water carrier takes a chance and wins on an early, long break-away. I actually like those kind of victories! -Tony
