Empathy is painful.

I thought it was interesting. Philosophers (and simple bucolic bloggers) spend their whole life trying to achieve empathy with the universe. Painful? It has certainly proved to be difficult.

I believe that you either have empathy or you don't. Some have a lot, some have little or none. It is not something you turn on and off although I suppose resistance can be hardened up.
For me, care must be taken to not get an overload of the painful kind.
It was difficult to come up with that statement about being painful because it's not always. It just that empathy to someone uncomfortable is always so noticeable. Empathetic joy is so pleasant it is just accepted as a gift.
i am not an expert in the field but I find I have to be careful what I expose myself to. My spouse thinks I am silly and a candy ass. You have probably determined that I would make a lousy torturer.
The video is excellant and I would like to pass it on if I may.

I yield to no man in my pussyhood. I will not watch anything, on the news nor in movies, where people are hurt, particularly children. People become curmudgeonly because the pain of mankind is too painful to deal with, so we leash out with cynicism.
