Mimbres Man: Tour of the Gila

Mimbres Man, our man in Venezuela, made a run back to the States to his old home to watch the Tour of the Gila stage race. He also had an opportunity to talk to Lance, who obviously is still in awe of him. Our Man forwarded this photo of the action, which contains both beer and his bicycle. Well played.

Not shown...about 6 cans of various canned microbrews from Ska Brewery and Oscar Blues Brewery, just given to me by a friend who saw me riding by. He followed me to the 7-11-like store and handed them to me through the cab of his pick-up.

Sweet Southwestern rig you got there. Can you pick me up a 12pk of Negra Modelo?

Have you noticed how the Mexican waiters light up, all pleased, when you order Negra Modelo instead of Corona?

Thanks Jack...
I had a few Negra Modelos while there! Muy Bueno! Me gusta cervesa Mexicana!

I've been the only owner of that bike. All that rubbed off paint and primer for the canti braze-ons is because of me. Its veteran of thousands of touring miles (NM to Alberta), countless centuries, and one official double century.

Hey how many miles did that Rig put on tracks like Juan Tabo, Tramway, Coors Road and stopping for Sopa Pilla at the Territorial House in Corales? Adios, y buena suerte en Venezuela.

It has probably done the Tour of the Rio Grande Valley at least 3 times maybe 4. Its done the Enchanted Circle up in Red River/Taos at least twice, maybe three times...just dinking around Albuquerque...not much since I went to college in Silver City. Maybe some bike path riding up to Juan Tabo and Tramway, but most of the rat racing in Albuquerque has been done on my mountain bikes.
