Today I bought a few watercolors, one brush and a couple of blocks of cold pressed paper. I have a couple of travel brushes. That should be plenty.

try telling your internal critic to take a hike. tell him don't call me, I'll call you. I often quote Hemingway to my writing students, who said, "the first draft of everything is shit."
Hemingway: I haven't read him in years. I love the style; can't handle the hyper-manly Field and Stream subject matter.
Internal critic: He doesn't give a shit about writing, but he's pretty severe when it comes to art. One of the reasons I quit painting was to lock him up in a back room where he belongs. We'll see if he can stay there.
