Good one! First time I heard Joe Ely was in the mid/late 90s when over to a mountain bike friend's place for a BBQ. A bunch of us were there in the "backyard" of her small semi-isolated mid-1960s era trailer situated on a hill just outside of town. We sat in the cool breeze around an open campfire, surrounded by gramma grass and a scattering of piñon pine trees, with Joe Ely was on the boom-box. It was a movie-like scene in New Mexico. Good times!
