An old man on the island had an old beat up '48 Packard woodie. All us kids wanted to buy it in the worst way but he wouldn't budge! I still think about that old wagon and wonder what happened to it. One day it simply disappeared and nobody in our little circle knew where it went. I also missed buying a Tudor A-model Ford for a 100 bucks. It needed a trunk lid and some probably minor work to run properly. In my 16-year-old-with-a-new-driver's-licence eyes it was perfect! But my old man wouldn't let me buy it. That old Ford would have been the perfect beach buggy--I was bummed for weeks! I wound up with a clapped out, straight-8 Buick that steered about as well as a hog on ice. I'm still amazed I didn't wrap that old Buick around a 'phone pole. Any wonder why the first "real" car I could afford was an MGA? I drove that poor little MG just like I stole it for about a year, thinking I was Stirling Moss, and then lost it big time in the middle of an S-curve on a narrow country road. My old man just shook his head, but that's another story for another time. I'm still crazy about anything that's fast on wheels after all these years--cars, motorbikes, bicycles, you name it. My son, on the other hand, could give a sh#t about cars. Sic transit gloria mundi. At least the boy shares my love of fast boats! Maybe he is mine after all...

May I opt for the three wheeler in the background?
