This was a variation on a theme played out all over America today - a little beer, a little football, a little wine, a lot of food, a lot of family love. There were 16 family members plus a couple of old friends. And three big ol' dogs who ate most of the leftovers set outside to cool. We were all a little pissed, but the dogs seemed rather pleased with themselves and even thankful.

Wha'da I think? I think the evidence strongly suggests that all hands had a great Thanksgiving feast! Why no pix of those thankful dogs? They were just working under the dog/man SOP: "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission".
We have long moved beyond serving all the food at the table. In all things simplify, simplify, simplify. We (mostly Big Larr)have cut back to just two varieties of turkeys this year, one smoked and the big oven roast one the size of a moth boat.
Damned dogs! One was not even a family critter, but their friend dog from the neighbors. Our dog was missing from action because we found a pug sitter for the day.
A turkel the size of a Moth Boat--now Moths are small but that's still one bodacious turkel! We like Thanksgiving day simple too; just all the things we only get once a year like the wife's pearled onions. We leave the complications for the Jul Board. That's coming next.
In the meantime I need to find a new source for Gammel Dansk (bitter dram). Maryland distributorships have apparently cut it out of the herd. I've tried at several different good bottle shops without success. I like a drop in hot cider. It nicely cuts that itcky-sticky cider taste.
"Old Danish". one my wife's favorites. It must be an acquired taste.
Well hopefully you and she live in a more civilized area than I do. I used to be able to get Gammel Dansk at almost any decent bottle shop but I must've been the only guy that drank it 'cause now I can't find it anywhere. I may have to get drastic and go over the state line or something. Good thing states are kinda on the small size out here...
Possibly worse than that, maybe they aren't importing it anymore ... because there were only three drinkers.
