Lyle and Darlene are staying at Laguna Vista, so we met them at the refuge on South Padre Island. We saw quite a number of herons and egrets, but the tide was not out enough to expose the mud flats and there weren't too many shore birds - still a good morning. After we ate at South Padre Brewing, L.P. and Darlene went back to their apartment, while Lorna and I returned to the refuge. By then the tides were out and there was a little more activity.

This old bird appeared to be a trophy fisherman. He consistenly speared fish far to big to be eaten, poked at them for a while, then let them go and speared another giant.
