On Poetry

I know many (actually, most) of the people mentioned, either personally or through correspondence. I have been to more AWP conferences than I can count. Decade after decade. The mere thought of it turns my soul a whiter shade of pale.
But the only real argument against the institutionalization of poetry, or any other art, I think, is flesh and blood. You gotta bleed, not blog.
