Wader Portraits

Herons and egrets have a neat prehistoric look, the closer you get the stranger they are. Just for fun here's some from yesterday. And I threw in a two or three others just because they have great beaks.

Great Egret

Roseate Spoonbill

Snowy Egret

Tricolor Heron
Reddish Egret

Little Blue Heron
Gret Blue Heron

Longbilled Curlew

White Ibis

The Longbilled Curlew looks a thoughtful fellow. Those others have the crazy eyes and seem capable of anything. I'd keep my distance.

It has been a policy of mine to never trust a bird with binocular vision. That has always stood me in good stead.
