Miscellaneous Light

Plain Chachalaca

Get your ducks in a row

Least Sandpipers. Little 5" birds that scurry about in small flocks on the muddy shorelines like a herd of feathered mice, never getting too close to each other, never too far apart. No matter how you cut it, they are simply "cute". Why am I posting virtually the same photo twice? Light. I am struck again how fussy, and for me lucky, photography can be. In the lower photo its eye looks like a black hole. In the bottom photo the bird turned its head about 5 degrees to the right which allowed the sun to hit the side of the head and its eye lit up, making the bird feel alive.
